Halo Infinite – A Master Piece
Dark Energy Films / Edelman UK / Xbox
FORMAT.LDN was brought in by Dark Energy Films to create the pre-vis animatic for Halo Infinite – A Master Piece, a launch film developed around Xbox’s wider campaign for the game’s release. The project centred on a monumental Renaissance-style oil painting by artist Iva Troj, commissioned to mark the launch of Halo Infinite and unveiled at London’s Saatchi Gallery, with a replica also shown at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
Directed by Jonathan Harris, the film translated that large-scale physical artwork into a more cinematic screen experience, combining live camera movement with choral performance and a heightened sense of spectacle. FORMAT.LDN’s role was to map out the visual rhythm of the piece in advance, choreographing camera moves, timings and transitions in sync with the music so the shoot had a clear structural blueprint from the outset.
The pre-vis became a practical and creative reference for production, helping the camera choreography be repeated accurately on set while shaping the pacing, atmosphere and flow of the final film. It was a technical planning tool, but also an important part of defining how the energy of the painting would translate into motion.
