FORMAT.LDN was commissioned to create motion graphics for Elton John: The Cut, a global creative campaign celebrating the 50th anniversary of Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s songwriting partnership.

Launched in partnership with YouTube and Pulse Films, the project invited undiscovered filmmakers from around the world to pitch official music video ideas for three of Elton John’s most iconic tracks. These songs had become part of music history without ever having official videos, making the campaign both a celebration of Elton John’s legacy and a platform for new creative voices.

Our work supported the campaign’s digital presence, helping bring energy, clarity and visual momentum to a project built around discovery, creativity and global participation.

The campaign received entries from more than 50 countries, generated international press coverage across digital, print and television, and reached a new generation of creators and audiences through YouTube.
