BAFTA Television Craft Awards 2013

We were thrilled to be invited by BAFTA to reimagine the ceremony and broadcast graphics for the 2013 BAFTA Television Craft Awards. From the outset, we worked closely with the BAFTA team to develop a concept that would celebrate the creative disciplines behind television. Central to this was the idea of reconstructing the iconic BAFTA mask using symbolic elements drawn from the world of TV and broadcast.

Building on high-resolution 3D scan data from a previous project, we meticulously modelled a vast array of industry-relevant objects – DVDs, paint cans, makeup, costumes, props, lighting gear, and cameras – each representing the many crafts behind the scenes. These elements were then artfully animated into a slow-motion sequence where the fully formed BAFTA mask, composed of over one million individual components, dramatically breaks apart into a stunning cascade of motion.

The result is a rich visual landscape, elevated further by carefully designed sound, where each collision and shift adds texture and rhythm – an homage to the countless moving parts that bring television to life.
